Travel from Tbilisi to the Sighnaghi region, stopping first at the Museum of Alexandre Chavchavadze - 19th century. Situated to the North of Tbilisi-Telavi highway. Famous for its beautiful garden and wine.

Visit Bodbe Monastery, resting place of St. Nino. As a young girl, Nino brought Christianity to Georgia in the fourth century by plaiting her hair together with grape vines to form a cross and her grave is a site of pilgrimage from across the country and the world. From Bodbe, continue into the town of Sighnaghi, filled with cobble stone streets and terra cotta tile-roofed homes with colorful carved balconies and breathtaking views of the Alazani Valley and the Great Caucasus Mountains.

In Sighnaghi, you will try Pheasant's Tears wines in our 250 year old tasting hall, all of which are fermented and aged in clay vessels called qvevri lined with organic beeswax. Pheasant's Tears Winery takes its name from an old Georgian saying that only the finest wine will make a pheasant cry tears of joy, and we hope our wines will leave you with that impression. Our Rkatsiteli is a full-bodied dry white wine with honey and stone fruit in the nose and a rich, rounded finish. Our Saperavi is a deep, rich red (called black in Georgian) with hints of dark berries and earthy tannins.

In addition to these popular wines, we have 5 limited release varietals rarely offered in the Georgian market. In the vineyard, we'll join in a traditional feast with kebabs roasted over grape vines, traditional songs and dances and a tamada to lead us in the tradition of Georgian toasts, all in a beautiful al fresco setting in the shadow of a 6th C basilica and with views of the Caucasus ridge.
